Maintaining a healthy smile really begins at home. We can do cleanings every six months, but if you aren’t doing your part, those cleanings aren’t worth much. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends two, two-minute brushing sessions. Once in the morning, and once before you go to bed. They also recommend flossing before that second brushing, and keeping a six-month dental cleaning schedule at the dental office. So, how are you doing with your four minutes of brushing each day? If you’re like most people, you aren’t doing very well. That’s why we put together a list of three ways you can get four minutes of brushing each day!
Grab a buddy
Everything goes better when you have a friend! Ask a trusted friend to take this four-minute challenge with you! Hold one another accountable, and check in regularly. If you live in the same home, you can even brush at the same time to ensure that you are each getting a full four minutes each day.
Use technology
We know that smartphone is going to be nearby, so use it to assist you! You can set reminders or alarms to help you remember to brush. You can also set a timer so that you know you’re getting a full two minutes at each brushing session.
Get a timer toothbrush
You can find them in just about any store! Timer toothbrushes are automatic brushes that time how long they stay on. You simply turn the brush on, and do your thing until the brush turns itself off two minutes later! What could be easier than that?
Taking the time to effectively brush your teeth will make a big difference in how clean your mouth feels. Two minutes feels like a long time, and we would almost guarantee you will find places in your mouth that you don’t normally brush! You’ll be on your way to a happier, healthier smile in no time! Contact us today to set up your six-month cleaning, and let us know how your four minute challenge is going! We’d love to hear about your success!
